Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Welcomes New Director of Development, Debra Walter

Center Valley, PA – The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival has named Debra Walter as Director of Development. A key administrative position, the director of development is responsible for raising a significant percentage of the annual PSF budget through membership gifts, grant writing, sponsorships, raffles and the annual Gala.
“Ms. Walter brings a host of skills to the Festival and we are delighted to welcome her to the year-round staff,” says Patrick Mulcahy, producing artistic director. Ms. Walter previously served as development director for The Discovery Center, alumni and annual fund director for Northampton Community College and La Roche College, and coordinator of annual fund at Slippery Rock University.
An experienced writer, she has taught English composition and speech courses at Lehigh Carbon Community College, professional communication for Moravian College’s Comenius Center, and an English composition course at Northampton Community. Her experience also includes serving as copy editor for The Express-Times.
“I’ve enjoyed the Festival for many years and am thrilled to help it continue to thrive and grow,” Ms. Walter says.
The position Ms. Walter fills also carries some responsibilities in the DeSales University Division of Performing Arts, where her energies will support the growth of the Arts Angels endowment fund.
She received her Master of Science in Education degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California University of Pennsylvania. A member of the Leadership Lehigh Valley Class of 1998, she currently serves as Nazareth Community League basketball coach and is active in the Nazareth community.
The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, a professional company in residence at DeSales University, is the Official Shakespeare Festival of the Commonwealth and a professional, not-for-profit theatre company. An independent 501 c 3 organization, PSF receives support from DeSales University and relies on contributions from individuals, government agencies, corporations and foundations. PSF is a constituent of the Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for the American theatre, and a member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, the Shakespeare Theatre Association, the Lehigh Valley Arts Council, and Discover Lehigh Valley.
