CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (Mar. 22, 2016)- Penn State Lehigh Valley is hosting a one-day food drive on Wednesday, April 6 where members of the local community are invited to join students, faculty, staff and alumni as they try to “Fill the Truck” with food donations benefitting Betty Lou’s Food Pantry of Coopersburg.

This event is open to the public. The first 200 donors will receive a free recyclable bag. A drive through donation station, open from 7:30-9 a.m. and 12-2 p.m., will enable people to remain in their cars as they drive through the campus parking lot to drop off their donations. Donations will also be accepted all day at the Penn State Lehigh Valley building entrance.

“We are excited for our campus community to work alongside the local community to help stock Betty Lou’s Food Pantry at a time of year when donations can run low,” said Liz Keptner, event organizer and director of Penn State Lehigh Valley’s Multimedia Innovation Center. “Thank you in advance to everyone who comes out to help us ‘Fill the Truck’ on April 6!”

Betty Lou’s Food Pantry specified some of the most needed items. These include: jelly (plastic containers only), tuna, canned pasta, tuna helper, Hamburger Helper and cereal.

This event is co-sponsored by the Community Affairs Committee and Student Government Association at Penn State Lehigh Valley.
