Event, which includes outdoor viewing party, held as part of SteelStacks’ Oktoberfest festivities

Penn State fans are invited to gather at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks to watch the Nittany Lions take on Michigan for a local White Out game and viewing party, Saturday, Oct. 11, with pre-game blue and white festivities beginning at 5 p.m. The event, which includes the 7 p.m. game shown on the Levitt Pavilion’s outdoor screen, is offered free of charge as part of ArtsQuest’s annual Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling.

Throughout the 5-7 p.m. pre-game tailgate, there will be yard games, Penn State trivia and visits by the Nittany Lion and the Alumni Blue Band. An Instagram contest using #ifoundthelion will be held throughout the day and winners will receive tickets to an upcoming Penn State football game.

“Oktoberfest will serve as the perfect festive backdrop for a Penn State football viewing party. There are many alumni in the Lehigh Valley who can’t make the trip to Michigan for this away game, so we are thrilled to partner with ArtsQuest to offer Penn State fans an opportunity to enjoy the game locally,” said Elena Douvanis, alumni liaison at Penn State Lehigh Valley. “After the wildly successful World Cup viewing parties at SteelStacks earlier this year, we can’t wait to see a White Out on the Levitt Pavilion lawn.”

As part of the evening’s activities, attendees are invited to enjoy all of the live music, food and fun of Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling, which is free for the first time in its history. Among the highlights this year are the popular dachshund races held Oct. 5 and 12, Celebrity Skills Challenge on Oct. 11, new food pairing experiences, and the new Oktoberfest 5k on Oct. 5.

“As a Penn State alumnus, I am particularly excited about the Penn State vs. Michigan tailgate and viewing party as an exciting new addition to the programming at Oktoberfest this year,” said Kassie Hilgert, ArtsQuest Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advancement and the organization’s incoming President. “This is a great opportunity to potentially introduce both Penn State students and alumni to the year-round cultural amenities at SteelStacks. We hope everyone will join us to cheer on the Nittany Lions!”
