PA Professional Firefighters Association to Host Annual Convention in Lehigh Valley

Firefighters from across the state gather in Bethlehem May 13 – 15

The Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association (PPFFA) will host its annual convention in Lehigh Valley May 13 through 15 at Historic Hotel Bethlehem and other local sites.

The Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association represents career emergency responders across the Commonwealth. The convention will serve to address PPFFA’s yearly resolutions and internal business, but will also give hundreds of fire fighters from across the state a chance to visit Bethlehem and other Lehigh Valley attractions.

”I would first like to welcome all the Professional Firefighter Union Members from across Pennsylvania to our beautiful City of Bethlehem,” Bethlehem Fire Chief Robert Novatnack said. “With more than 150 delegates, and 50 addition union members and their families, there will be a significant impact in downtown Historic Bethlehem and southside attractions.”

In addition to the private convention, The PPFFA will host a Lehigh Valley IronPigs outing on Monday, May 11. There will also be an International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) fire ops program held at Mack South Fire Station at 1902 Lehigh Street at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12. This program will include some local politicians and dignitaries as they are put through firefighting training on site with some of the state’s best firefighters.

Convention attendees will also attend a opening night cocktail session on May 12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem in addition to a May 14 evening “Celebrity Bar Tending” event at The Wooden Match, 61 W. Lehigh Street in Bethlehem from 5 to 8 p.m. The bartending event is open to the public and will benefit the Easton Coats for Kids charity.

“With all there is to see and do in the City of Bethlehem, I would hope to see all the convention members, and their families, return for a visit at a later date, or different season. Christmas time is beautiful throughout the city,” Novatnack said.
