Musikfest Goes Red, White & Blue with Summer Games Viewing Party
BETHLEHEM, PA—Love ’festing? Don’t want to miss all the action from Brazil? Musikfest has you blanketed in Red, White and Blue this August as it hosts a “Summer Games Viewing Party” at Spark Orthodontics Familienplatz!
From Aug. 5-14, fans can ‘fest and cheer on the U.S., courtesy of a large outdoor LED television screen at Familienplatz (formerly Kinderplatz). From noon-11 p.m. each day (5-11 p.m. only on Aug. 5), the festival will show the coverage from Rio de Janiero, including popular sports like basketball, gymnastics, soccer and swimming. Adding to the fun family vibe are Summer Games-themed crafts, a new line of Musikfest USA merchandise for sale and family-focused experiences presented by several festival partners.
“Every four years, our nation comes together to cheer on our top athletes as they compete against the best in the world at the Summer Games,” says Curt Mosel, ArtsQuest Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships for ArtsQuest, the nonprofit that presents Musikfest. “Our SoccerFest viewing parties here at SteelStacks the past few years have been incredibly popular, so we’re thrilled to offer this new experience at Musikfest. It’s going to be a great 10 days, and we’re all looking forward to cheering on the U.S. as it goes for the Gold!”
At Familienplatz, families can meet and get autographs from the 6abc Action News Team, embark on the Rothrock vehicle test drive, take advantage of great giveaways from Spark Orthodontics and check out the PNC Bank Mobile Learning Adventure, a traveling exhibit focused on early childhood education through fun, engaging activities for parents and kids. The Bridgestone Experience Trailer is also in town, offering families the opportunity to test their gaming skills at the Bridgestone Performance Institute, get their name on the racing simulator leaderboard or take part in the Road Trip Tracker, which maps their life’s travels to share with family and friends.
At the site’s Crayola Creativity Tent, kids can also take part in Summer Games-inspired craft activities presented by the Banana Factory Arts Center. The ‘crafty-ness’ kicks off Aug. 5 with “Let the Games Begin,” where kids can make their own ‘torch’, and concludes Aug. 14 with a special “Closing Ceremony” craft, where they will extinguish their torches and create a unique pennant as a keepsake to support their favorite countries and teams. The complete list of craft activities is available at www.musikfest.org.
