ArtsQuest Announces New Seating Layout for Cabaret-style Shows Taking Place After June 15

BETHLEHEM, PA—Singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards, South Africa’s Civil Twilight, DANCENOW’S ENCORE! hosted by David Parker & the Bang Group and Classic Albums Live performing the hits of The Doors are among the new shows announced for the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling, located at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Tickets for the concerts will go on sale starting Tues., Feb. 28, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., March 2, 10 a.m., to the public. They will be available at www.artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.

The June 15 ENCORE! and June 16 Classic Albums Live concerts also mark the first two shows featuring the Musikfest Café’s new cabaret show seating configuration, which offers greatly improved sightlines for more than 30 percent of the venue’s guests.  A map of the layout, which will apply to all cabaret seating shows taking place after June 15 except for the June 22 Sonny Landreth show, is available on the Musikfest Café webpage of the ArtsQuest website: www.artsquest.org/venues/musikfestcafe_cabaret.php.

“After receiving feedback from our patrons, we’ve learned that enhancing the seating setup in the Musikfest Café will provide an even better concert experience for our guests,” says ArtsQuest Vice President of Marketing & Public Relations Curt Mosel. “Through reconfiguring the room layout and turning some of the dining tables on a 45-degree angle, we’ve made sure that none of the chairs at our tables will be facing away from the stage, resulting in a better viewing experience for our audience members.”

Civil Twilight – April 13, 7:30 p.m.
$15 SRO/$15 Balcony
Originally hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Civil Twilight is a power trio that draws parallels with Pilot Speed and is especially known for its sound that resembles the music of U2’s early years.  With Steven McKellar on vocals, bass, piano and keyboard; Andrew McKellar on guitar; and Richard Wouters on drums, the group brings a perfect blend of atmospheric sound and hazy storytelling that transports you to another place. The group released its self-titled album, Civil Twilight, in 2009, and its new release, Holy Weather, is due out in March.

A native of Ottawa, singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards spent 2010-11 cooped up recording a new record with co-producer Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver).  The fruits of their labor can be heard on Edwards’ new album, Voyageur, released in January. Since the release of her debut LP, Failer, in 2003, Edwards has toured across Canada, the United States and Europe several times over, sharing the stages with the likes of My Morning Jacket, John Doe and Willie Nelson.  Along the way she has also garnered critical acclaim for her live shows as well as multiple Juno Award nominations for Back To Me (2005) and Asking For Flowers (2008), which also earned her a spot on the Polaris Prize short list.
