BETHLEHEM, PA—The Improvised Shakespeare Company, a critically-acclaimed improv company group that has performed everywhere from Off Broadway in New York City to Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and renowned funnyman Christian Capozzoli headline the third SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival Jan. 22-23 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. The festival, which will take place from 6 p.m.-12 a.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, will showcase more than 60 different improv comedy groups from around the country doing short- and long-form improv during 20-plus hours of nonstop comedy.
Based on one audience member’s suggestion for a title of a play that has yet to be written, The Improvised Shakespeare Company creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece live on stage. The ISC has been named Chicago’s best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner, and has received numerous awards in Los Angeles (Best of LA by LA Weekly), New York (New York Nightlife Awards) and Chicago (The Chicago Improv Foundation). You can see the group perform Jan. 23, 9:30 p.m., in the ArtsQuest Center’s Fowler Blast Furnace Room and Loft.
