GRAMMY Winner Marc Cohn Performing at Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling April 21
BETHLEHEM, PA—GRAMMY Award-winning folk rock artist Marc Cohn will perform in the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling April 21, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $37-$47 and go on sale to ArtsQuest Members today and the public Feb. 19, 10 a.m., at steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
Cohn, an Ohio native, worked initially as a backup artist in New York recording studios before establishing The Supreme Court, a 14-piece cover band that played at Caroline Kennedy’s wedding in 1986. In 1989 he also served as the backing pianist for singer Tracy Chapman on her second album. This gig led to a contract with Atlantic Records in the early ‘90s after label executives heard a demo disc featuring Cohn on piano and vocals.
Cohn released his solo debut album, Marc Cohn, in February 1991, with the recording becoming a hit thanks to his song “Walking in Memphis.” The following year, he took home the GRAMMY for “Best New Artist,” while also being nominated for “Song of the Year” and “Best Pop Vocal” for “Walking in Memphis.”
