Formed in 1995, in Calgary, Alberta, Tegan and Sara, featuring twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin, have developed a loyal following around the globe through their ability to bridge the pop and indie worlds. The duo released its first independent, full-length album, Under Feet Like Ours, in 1999, catching the attention of Neil Young’s manager, Elliot Roberts, who quickly signed them to Vapor Records. The pair’s 2004 album, So Jealous, ultimately provided its global breakthrough, featuring the U.S. radio hit “Walking With A Ghost,” a song later covered by The White Stripes.
In 2011, Tegan and Sara released Get Along, a CD/DVD compilation that features a collection of live films that give a rare and intimate look into their lives and music, earning them their first GRAMMY nomination. Two years later, they unveiled their seventh album Heartthrob, with the recording debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, the duo’s highest U.S. chart position to date. The recording featured the hit “Closer,” which topped Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart and also hit the Billboard Hot 100.
Over the course of their career, Tegan and Sara have played countless festivals around the world including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, as well as toured with artists such as The Killers, The Black Keys, Jack Johnson, Neil Young, The Pretenders, Ben Folds, Death Cab For Cutie, Cyndi Lauper, Weezer and Paramore. Since 2003, they have headlined tours in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, consistently selling out theaters around the world.
