FoodTruckBorderBrawl_logoBETHLEHEM, PA—It’s the food truck brawl to end it all!

On June 11, some of the Garden State’s finest food trucks will go head to head with the Keystone State’s most creative mobile food eateries in the inaugural Food Truck Border Brawl at SteelStacks. The event, which takes place from noon-7 p.m., will feature eight food trucks from the New Jersey Food Truck Association going up against eight food trucks from the Greater Lehigh Valley Mobile Food Alliance and Philadelphia Mobile Food Association, with the winning truck taking home the “Best Overall Food Truck” Award and earning bragging rights for his or her state for the entire year.

Tickets for the Food Truck Border Brawl, which takes place at PNC Plaza at SteelStacks, are $8 in advance and $10 day of the event and go on sale today, 10 a.m., at and 610-332-3378. A special VIP Pass, which includes a Musikfest 2016 Mug and early access to the Border Brawl from 11 a.m.-noon to enjoy all of the food trucks without the crowds, is $21 in advance and $23 day of the event. All proceeds from Border Brawl ticket sales will go to support the nonprofit ArtsQuest’s free music, arts and education programming for the region, including Musikfest, the largest free music festival in the nation, set for Aug. 5-14.

At the Food Truck Border Brawl, guests will enjoy incredible culinary creations ranging from sensational Pad Thai and Curry Puffs by The Thai Elephant of Totowa, N.J., and lobster rolls and BLT lobster rolls from the Surf and Turf Truck of Hamilton, N.J.; to the delightful chicken cones of Chik’n Cone of Mount Bethel, Pa. and the amazing fried Wisconsin cheese curds from The Cow and The Curd of Philadelphia. Other participants include Philadelphia-based Oink and Moo BBQ, which was sixth in The Daily Meal’s 101 Best Food Trucks in 2015; Philly Fry, which has been showcased on 6abc’s FYI Philly, Fox29 and; and Pizza Vita Pizza Truck of Summit, N.J., included in The New York Times and on the Food Network’s Food Truck Wars in 2013.

“The trucks of the Greater Lehigh Valley Mobile Food Alliance are excited to be partnering with other Pennsylvania food trucks in the inaugural Border Brawl this summer at SteelStacks and we encourage our loyal followers to attend and support the trucks that have been chosen to participate,” says Tracey Matthews, president of the Greater Lehigh Valley Mobile Food Alliance. “We’re thrilled to be part of this growing culinary trend of showcasing the amazing offerings that food trucks provide for our community, and we hope that this event leads to even more demand for a food truck presence in the region.”

All attendees at the Border Brawl will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite food truck for the Border Brawl “People’s Choice” Award. In addition, a panel of culinary and media “celebrity” judges will visit all the food trucks during the VIP hour to sample and vote for their favorite for the “Best Overall Food Truck.” Both winners will be presented with a Border Brawl glass trophy, custom made at the Glass Studio at the Banana Factory Arts Center; the members of the judging panel will be announced later this spring.

It’s great to see a little friendly competition of some of the finest food trucks in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area,” says Michael  Barlettano, co-owner of Surf and Turf Truck and the New Jersey coordinator for the Food Truck Border Brawl. “It’s going to be a real treat for the patrons to get to experience a wide variety of flavors and techniques.“

The Cow and The Curd owner Rob Mitchell, president of the Philadelphia Mobile Food Association and a board member of the National Food Truck Association, says the Border Brawl will provide an opportunity for attendees to experience some of the finest food trucks the City of Brotherly Love has to offer.

“Finally, the Lehigh Valley will get a taste of Philly’s vibrant mobile cuisine culture and experience the excitement that the ‘food truck faithful’ have known and embraced all the while,” Mitchell says.

The Border Brawl will also include live music by local and regional bands, as well as a variety of beverages and the Musikfest 2016 Mugs available for purchase. Following the event, attendees are invited to stay at SteelStacks to enjoy a free Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series show at 7:30 p.m. by Blues Music Award winner The Cedric Burnside Project.
