Country Superstar Tim McGraw to Headline at The Great Allentown Fair Aug. 29
Fair nabs People’s Choice ‘icon’ to kick off Labor Day weekend
His special guest will be country singer and former television series One Tree Hill star Jana Kramer.
Tickets to the concert are $78 and $58 for seating both on the track (floor) and in the grandstand, and $88 for a standing pit area in front of the stage. They go on sale to the public starting at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21.
After two decades as a country music powerhouse, McGraw continues to add to his more than 40 million albums sold, 35 No. 1 hit singles, major film roles and countless music industry awards and nominations.
The Academy of Country Music (ACM) just announced he is up for seven awards, tying Miranda Lambert for this year’s most nominations. He’s recognized as both artist and producer for “Two Lanes of Freedom” as Album of the Year and for “Highway Don’t Care” as both Single of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year.
Last month he was named “Favorite Country Music Icon” at the People’s Choice Awards. This comes on top of his career three Grammys, 14 ACM awards, 12 Country Music Association (CMA) awards, 10 American Music Awards and many other accolades.
McGraw had a big year in 2013 with three consecutive No. 1 singles “One of Those Nights,” “Highway Don’t Care” and “Southern Girl” and sold out concert venues across the country. He wasted no time working on a new album releasing its first single last month, “Lookin’ for That Girl.”
To support the new album, his major market “Sundown Heaven Town 2014” tour kicks off on the west coast in May. He is playing the fair as part of a special Labor Day weekend swing of dates on the east coast.
McGraw performed at the fair in 1999, 2005 and 2009. His first appearance became especially memorable when his late father, Phillies star pitcher-reliever Tug McGraw, joined him on stage in front of an excited crowd.
Later, the singer acknowledged that the lyrics of one of his biggest hits, “Live Like You Were Dying” from the album of the same name, held special meaning for him after his father succumbed from cancer the year before its 2004 release.
McGraw’s film acting credits include major roles in The Blind Side, Country Strong, Friday Night Lights and an upcoming Disney production, Tomorrowland.
Jana Kramer is going from an acting career to establishing herself as a female country vocalist. She is best known for her role as Alex Dupre on the former television series One Tree Hill and introduced herself as a singer by contributing three songs to its episodes.
In 2012 she had her first hit country single, “Why Ya Wanna” from her self-titled first album. She toured with Blake Shelton last year.
Starting February 21 at 10 a.m., tickets for the Tim McGraw with special guest Jana Kramer concert will be available at the Fair Box Office, online at Ticketmaster.com, over the phone at 800-745-3000 and at Ticketmaster Centers.
Tickets for the previously announced Mötley Crüe, The Final Tour, with special guest Alice Cooper concert, advance discount ride wristbands and premium concert parking are also available at those locations.
For current tickets on sale, the box office is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays. For more information on shows and the entire fair, visit the fair’s web site at www.allentownfairpa.org.
