Country Singer-Songwriter Jake Owen Completes Line-Up for 2016 Allentown Fair

Jul 19th, 2016Press Release from The Great Allentown Fair

Allentown, Pa. The Great Allentown Fair completes its 2016 show line-up announcing that country singer-songwriter Jake Owen will headline at the fair’s historic Grandstand venue on Wednesday, August 31. Tickets for this show go on sale to the public Friday, July 29, the day the multi-platinum selling recording artist releases his fifth studio album, “American Love.”

The first single off the new album, “American Country Love Song,” is on an ascent to Billboard’s Top Ten, hitting the No.12 spot this week. It sets the tone for the new LP that retains the Florida native’s brand of carefree summery tunes but mixes it up with introspective songs of tough times in personal life.

Owen filmed a 360-dgree virtual reality music video for the new single in February while driving from Nashville to Key West in his light green 1966 Volkswagen Microbus. The song thrives on Americana images like the “Love Bus,” as Owen refers to his VW classic, long neck beers and air-brushed T-shirts. In fact, the tee the singer’s wearing in the video bears the likeness of this year’s Grammy award winner Chris Stapleton, who is performing at the fair two days after Owen.

In a preview of coming attraction on Owen’s album, Rolling Stone magazine’s country online site featured the hard-rocking track “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You,” a collaboration with Stapleton that the magazine called “ferocious” and a “sharp right turn” from Owen’s laid back beach songs.

Owen commands lead vocals and guitar on the song that was co-written by a Nashville dream team of producers and writers—Stapleton, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. Stapleton additionally performs guest vocals and searing guitar riffs on the single.

In a career that took off in 2006 with his debut album “Startin’ With Me,” Owen has scored five No. 1 singles. They include the double platinum anthem “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and platinum-certified hits“Beachin’,” “Anywhere with You,” “Alone with You” and “The One That Got Away.” Owen has toured often as a headliner and as special guest of many of country music’s heavyweights including supporting Kenny Chesney on his 2015 stadium tour. With its diverse styles and renowned co-producers McAnally and Ross Copperman, his soon-to-be released “American Love” album has been highly-anticipated this year.

Brandon Lay, a young singer-songwriter that has been turning heads in Nashville, developing a following on the college circuit and recently signed to Universal Nashville record label, will open for Owen at the fair.

In making the announcement that completes the fair’s 2016 bill, Marketing Director and Talent Buyer Bonnie Brosious said, “Jake puts a great exclamation point on our line-up that has rock, pop, country, comedy and even a show for kids. ‘The fair’s gratifyingly recognized for the country talent that’s been on our stage, and nabbing two great artists of that genre that haven’t been here before is not only thrilling, it’s almost impossible,” she added.

Tickets for Jake Owen with special guest Brandon Lay go sale Friday, July 29 at 10 a.m. There are seats on the floor and in the Grandstand at $39 and $29 and a limited number of tickets at $59 for a center floor general admission standing pit. They will be available at the Fair Box Office, online at, over the phone at 800-745-3000 and at Ticketmaster Centers.
