BETHLEHEM, PA—Singer-songwriter Colin Hay and GRAMMY-nominated Dave & Phil Alvin and the Guilty Ones are coming to the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling this summer. Tickets go on sale April 5, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and April 8, 10 a.m., to the public and will be available at steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
Guitarist and vocalist Colin Hay earned international acclaim as the front man of GRAMMY-winning rock band Men at Work, the first Australian group to have a simultaneous No. 1 album and No. 1 single on the Billboard charts. Hay’s solo career includes 12 solo albums and worldwide tours alongside notable acts like Barenaked Ladies and the Violent Femmes. His songs are frequently used in TV and film, with “I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You” included in the GRAMMY-winning soundtrack for the 2004 movie Garden State. Hay will perform in the Musikfest Café July 23.
On Sept. 1, GRAMMY-nominated brothers Dave & Phil Alvin and the Guilty Ones take the stage. The duo formed the rockabilly band The Blasters in 1979, earning accolades from Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Queen. After creatively parting ways for 30 years, the pair rekindled their musical magic with the 2014 album “Common Ground,” earning a “Best Blues Album” GRAMMY nomination. From their critical success sprang 2015’s aptly named “Lost Time,” 12 tracks paying homage to blues masters ranging from Big Joe Turner to James Brown.
