A weekend of Cinco de Mayo!

Bethlehem, Pa. (April 27, 2012) – Federica Muggenburg, Executive Chef of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, is pleased to announce a weekend of Cinco de Mayo festivities, beginning Friday, May 4th continuing through Sunday May 6th.

The Executive Chef has a special affinity for the holiday, “I am from Mexico City, so this is an important holiday for me, I’m very proud of my heritage and relish the opportunity to serve truly authentic Mexican cuisine” says Muggenburg.  She adds; “I see this as an opportunity to expose Americans to genuine Mexican fare, prepared professionally with fresh and quality ingredients.”

The weekend will begin with a Fiesta on Friday, May 4th in the hotel’s popular Club Mural.  Live Latin music by Freddy Rivera y su Conjunto Antillano.  Freddy Rivera has been playing Latin Music since his teens.  He has a passion for percussion and has played with various bands performing with famous singers such as Tito Allen, Luisito Carrion, Cano Estrameda, Hector Tricoche, and Primi Cruz.  In 1996 his band was formed and he has played in many major cities in Pennsylvania as well as Latin festivals.  Margaritas and mixed drinks featuring tequila will be the feature cocktails.  The Fiesta begins at 8pm.

On Saturday, May 5th, the hotel will have a special menu for dinner in the Tap Room.  Menu selections will start with; “Margarita Soup” cold lemon soup, “Guacamole con Tortillas” with fresh avocados, tomatoes and lime or “Queso Fundido con Chorizo” cheese fondue with spicy chorizo served with warm flour tortillas.

Entrees are; “Chiles Rellenos” peppers stuffed with cheese and sauced with tomato coulis, “Baja Steaks” grilled beef fajitas with a spicy rub served with tortillas, pico de gallo and guacamole, or “Chilaquiles con Pollo” fried tortillas with salsa, crema and cheese gratinee.

Dessert will be “Flan de Dulce de leche” custard with a dulce de leche sauce.

The hotel’s famous musical brunch on Sunday, May 6th will feature the traditional brunch items along with some Mexican inspired dishes.  Sunday’s musical brunch at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem is very popular and reservations are recommended.
