Jul 8th, 2015Press Release from The Bach Choir of Bethlehem

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard welcomes the Bach Choir of Bethlehem for a Musical Salon.

Dundee, NY, Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard will host “A Night in Vienna” on August 8, 2015 at 6:30pm. This fourth annual summer salon will be a benefit event for the acclaimed Bach Choir of Bethlehem.

The Winery’s 100 year old scissor-trussed barn provides a unique setting for the evening’s festivities. Savory spreads and strudels handcrafted by Dano’s Heuriger on Seneca Lake will be served with wine during the intermezzo. Concert tickets are $50/guest. Immediately following the performance, an Artists’ Dinner will feature traditional Austrian fare also by Dano’s Heuriger. Dinner is an additional $35 per guest.

Highlights of the program will include a performance of Johannes Brahms Liebeslieder Walzer (Love Song Waltzes) by an ensemble of 20 singers from the choir accompanied by pianists, Greg Funfgeld and Thomas Goeman. Soprano Rosa Lamoreaux, a crowd favorite at previous salons, will also make her fourth appearance. Her selections include “The Night They Invented Champagne” from Gigi performed in the version with an effervescent choral finale.

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, founded in 1898, is the oldest Bach Choir in America and gave the first performances in America of J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor in 1900 and Christmas Oratorio in 1901. Since then the world famous choir has been attracting thousands of people from across the United States and beyond to its annual Bethlehem Bach Festival in May. A review of the 2015 Bach Festival in the Wall Street Journal said, “Their choral sonority is so rich you can feel it in your bones.” The Bach Choir will use proceeds from the Musical Salon for educational outreach in sharing the music and passion of J.S. Bach with a wide and diverse audience. For more about The Bach Choir, visit their website. www.bach.org.
