5th-annual Bethlehem Vegfest to feature new vendors, more kid’s activities
BETHLEHEM (August 4, 2015) – Bethlehem Vegfest returns for its fifth season on Saturday, August 22, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before.
The free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Southside Bethlehem Greenway, is currently the only vegan/vegetarian festival in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Travelers from far and wide come to celebrate this fine foods fest, which features a wide array of vegan food and educational vendors, speakers, and chefs.
This year, Vegfest will host nearly 100 vendors. Festival goers can taste delicious vegan recipes crafted by local farm-to-table chefs at the festival’s Farmer’s Market and Food Court and learn how to incorporate healthy behaviors into their lifestyles in the Mind, Body and Spirit and Health Corner. Animal lovers can stop by Animal Haven, in support a better life for all animals –from the farm to the sea. Visitors can take home cruelty-free and “green” products from the Earth Art/Green Tech and before they leave, say hello to local businesses at Vegfest’s Community Zone.
Many fan-favorite vendors are returning this year, such as Vegan Treats and The Cinnamon Snail [food truck], but there are a lot of new vendors this year.
There will also be more activities for the kids. Vegfest’s Kid’s Zone will feature Mermaid Avalon, who teaches children about preserving the ocean and paints faces. Local PBS39 will be on site handing out free books. There will also be vegetable-themed crafts and games for the children to enjoy.
A full list of exhibitors can be found on the Downtown Bethlehem Association’s website: http://www.downtownbethlehemassociation.com/events/vegfest/exhibitors
For those looking for entertainment, there will be plenty of it at Vegfest. Visitors can grab a beer from the Beer Garden and head to the Main Stage to hear Secret Coda and Serene Green play 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (each for a three-hour set), or visit the Chinese Pavilion 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for acoustic performances by Godfrey Daniels.
There will also be live food demonstrations by local chefs and nutritionists and a Speaker’s Tent, headlined by author Victoria Moran.
Bethlehem Vegfest was recently nominated a finalist as “Best Business or Chamber Event” and “Best Outdoor Event” by Lehigh Valley Happening. And it’s no surprise why – this festival has something for everyone. Whether you are already a vegan or just want to see what the hype is all about, Bethlehem Vegfest welcomes you.
Social media users are encouraged to use the hashtag #BethlehemVegfest when posting about the event.
