3rd & Ferry Fish Market to Host 2nd Annual Clam Jam Clambake Street Festival
3rd & Ferry Fish Market is hosting the 2nd Annual Clam Jam Clambake Street Festival on Sunday, August 30, 2015. Last year’s inaugural event was a resounding success and the festivities for this summer are even ‘bigger and better’. Clam Jam has many components to the day including live music, foodie events, beer & cocktails, cigar lounge, kids activities, and the quickly sold-out clambake tickets. The festival has an expanded footprint this year, centered around 3rd & Ferry Fish Market and extending down Ferry Street and down 3rd Street towards the Easton circle. The festival is set up as an authentic city street festival, and aims to create a day filled with New England/Easton style food, music, beverages & fun for the whole family.
The agenda for the day includes live music on the street stage:
12pm – 2pm UUU – The Ultimate Cover Band as featured on VH-1’s ‘Cover Wars’
2pm – 3:30pm Blue Heart’s Revelry – Playing Folk, Bluegrass & Rock ‘n Roll
3:30pm – 6pm Uncle Rocco – A local favorite Rock ‘n Soul Party Band
The event emcee, the one and only Baron Ambrosia, will be leading the party. Baron Ambrosia, the Culinary Ambassador of the Bronx and New York Emmy Award Winner, was able to arrive for the last hour of last year’s event and will be on-site all day this year.
The Chowda’ & Homebrew Beer Competition takes place inside the restaurant starting at 11am. Local chefs will be throwing down against last year’s winner: Jeremy Bialker, GM/Chef of Two Rivers Brewing Co. Competitors include 3rd & Ferry Fish Market, The Architects Club, Leaf Restaurant, Mesa, Valenca, Pomme Verte, Pearly Bakers and Blue Sky at the State. The Homebrew Beer Competition includes many local craft brewers and last year the event, set in the private room inside 3rd & Ferry, was the happiest nook at the festival! Entrance fee: $10, a portion of proceeds donated to The State Theatre
3rd & Ferry’s ticketed Clambake sold out so quickly that it was expanded. The New England style sit-down affair takes place in a tent in the 3rd street parking lot and offers a menu of lobster bisque, clambake bag to include snow crab legs, clams, mussels, shrimp, potatoes, corn & chorizo, and key lime pie for dessert.
A Cigar Lounge, sponsored by Famous Smoke Shop is a new addition; this tented lounge will feature give-aways, samples and comfortable seating.
Another new event: Weyerbacher Beer & Island Creek Oyster Tasting
Set in the 3rd Street Parking lot, this event allows raw bar lovers to taste Weyerbacher beer paired with some of the East Coast’s finest oysters from Boston’s Island Creek Oyster Farm.
Six oyster samples and 6 beers will be served.
Kid Zone: Activities planned throughout the day sponsored by Gymtime! of Forks Township. 3rd & Ferry Fish Market will be vending kid’s food in the kid zone all day, serving Hot Dogs, PBJ & Fluff, Pickles on a Stick, Goldfish & Go-gurt.
Street Food Vendors:
3rd & Ferry Fish Market, Two Rivers Brewing Co., Thisilldous BBQ, Ocean, Valenca, Pomme Verte, Zuzu Confectionary, Sette Luna, Frozenlandia, Terra Café, Aladdin, Leaf Restaurant, Sycamore Grill, Blue Sky at the State, Cozze Cakes
Some of the press for last year’s event included the following quotes: “…Clam Jam, the brainchild of 3rd & Ferry Fish Market. It had the look and smell of a New England seafood festival, two blocks from the Forks of the Delaware.” – lehighvalleylive.com 9/15/14, “The scene looked like something straight out of New England. Servers carried raw bar platters of oysters and clams. The bar was pouring up drinks like Cape Codders and Bloody Marys rimmed with Old Bay and served with crab cakes. And the smell of seafood chowder filled the whole restaurant.” – lehighvalleylive.com 9/14/14
Many local groups will be set up with raffles, such as the Easton Professional Firefighters who will be ending a Motorcycyle Poker Run at Clam Jam and selling 50/50 tickets to benefit their Coats for Kids charity. Easton’s Main Street Initiative will also have a table in support of their Peace Candle fundraiser. Easton Police Athletic League will also run a dunk tank with the opportunity to dunk some of your favorite parking meter attendants!
