LCCC to Host Teacher Education Seminar with Presenters from The Schuylkill Center
Lehigh Carbon Community College’s (LCCC) Teacher Education department will host the annual Super Saturday teacher education seminar with Gail Farmer and Shannon Dryden Wise of The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education Growing Sound, from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center (CSC), main campus in Schnecksville. The program begins with registration at 7:30 a.m.
The keynote topic, Sticks and Stones: Strategies for Supporting Child-directed Nature Play, teaches how nature play relates to early childhood development, how to apply assessment practices to nature play opportunities for students, as well as how to create nature play opportunities in the classroom.
Training certificates will be awarded; workshops meet Department of Human Services (DHS) and Keystone Stars and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) requirements.
There is a $40 nonrefundable fee required before the day of the event, which includes light refreshments and two keynote sessions, as well as guided tours of the Fowler Education Center with proceeds to benefit the Teacher Education Resource Scholarship Foundation.
