History Day at Heller Homestead
• Civil War Encampment with living history demonstrations throughout the day by Historical Impressions of America.

• Be sure to visit the recreated 19th century four-square herb garden which was a typical aspect of Pennsylvania German farm life.
• Saucon Valley Girl Scout docents will take visitors on “A Journey through Time”. Inside the Heller House & the Widow’s House, rooms with period furnishings will offer guests a chance to experience the past.
• Exhibits:
o A “Colonial construction site” to show the basic hand tools and technology that was used in Colonial /early American building of barns, and other structures. The exhibit will feature 3 mills (machines) that start out disassembled and will be constructed on site during the day, demonstrated and then disassembled at the end of the event.
o A scaled down version of 4 log barn types and common joints found in timber framing and barns will also be assembled by volunteers.
• Food & beverages will be sold.
• The Art Gallery and Gift Shop will also be open.
