Hans Moller: Modern Color Exhibition
Held at The Baum School of Art in Allentown, the Modern Color Exhibition features the artwork of Hans Moller, a significant American painter and longtime resident of Allentown, who spent more than 60 years creating works of art that were known for their distinctive bright colors and expressionistic style. His work frequently depicted landscapes, especially scenes from Monhegan Island, Maine, where he spent many summers painting. Unlike classical landscapes, Moller’s work is a departure from realism and an exploration of color, form, composition, and their relationships. Regarding his passion for painting he said, “All I want to do when I wake up is think about what color I want to use in my paintings.”
Moller was also known for expressive self-portraits, of which he painted many over the course of his life. Examples of these portraits will be on display along with a selection of landscapes and other subject matter. Modern Color will feature both works for sale and works on loan from a variety of private collections in the community.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
