Genetics and Epigenetics: How Nature and Nurture Make Us Us

Lehigh Valley Humanists welcomes lecturer Frank Stone, Ph.D. Our genome consists of our inherited 46 chromosomes of DNA. Our epigenome consists of the inherited and environmentally produced marks added to our DNA that influence the expression of the DNA. Together they make the proteins that build and run our bodies. In this talk we’ll look at some of the basics and some examples to give us an idea of what the science is all about.
